Bay Of Plenty Airways - 50th Anniversary of Crash of Aero Commander ZK-BWA

On the 21st of November 1961 Aero Commander 680F ZK-BWA crashed on Mount Ruapehu with the loss of 6 lives, the pilot, Alf Bartlett, and his passengers, Marlene Boynton, Nicky Crook and her children Helen and Jeffreym and Murray Down. 50 years on the families gathered at the Classic Flyers Museum for the unveiling of a permanent display and plaque.

The plaque was unveiled by Alistair McLeod, one of Bay of Plenty Airways' pilots, and Mr John Roake, one of the company's shareholders.
The plaque was designed by Graeme McConnell, as seen below, and blessed by Rev Dr Richard Waugh while Captain Alistar McLeod looks on.
