Diverted to Pukaki

While Mount Cook Airlines did, for a few years, operate an air service to Twizel, by 1988 it was a thing of the past. It did, however, divert flights into Pukaki when weather conditions at Mount Cook prevented them from landing there.

On the 16th of April 1988 two Mount Cook flights diverted in while I was there... Fokker Friendship ZK-DCB and Hawker Siddeley 748 ZK-MCF. Photos : S Lowe

A couple of weeks earlier Cessna 185 ZK-CVF was photographed at Pukaki. Some of the Mount Cook pilots lived at Twizel and commuted to Mount Cook. Photo taken on 2 April 1988. Photo : S Lowe
