CIE flying for Kiwi Regional

Operating Kiwi Regional Airline's services today was Air Chathams' Convair 580 ZK-CIE seeing arriving on to the gate at Tauranga... Thanks Grayson, but you should have hung a round a bit longer as ZK-CIB arrived into Tauranga from the Chathams a little bit later. Meanwhile ZK-CIE headed back to Nelson as scheduled and then flew Nelson-Hamilton... flying passengers from yesterday's cancelled Nelson-Hamilton perhaps??? I've no info on what the story is on KRA

  2. Some pre-planned maintenance that will require the Saab being out of the air for the next week is the reason the Air Chats Convair is being used.
Good to see they have a back up.

  3. Indeed. Whilst we were all wondering what they'd do if their plane wasn't available, they had a suitable backup and I congratulate them.
They should still get another plane.

  4. Quiet frankly... Nows the chance to fly a Convair on a domestic mainland run! Grab it with both hands everyone! It wont happen often. KRA always said they have cover, Air Chats.

    1. Usually when the convair runs the whakatane schedule to cover metro maintenance it announced in advance on the air chats facebook page with a discount on tickets in an attempt to increase loadings.

    2. Indeed, $49 from memory... It seems to work for them too
